I think a class blog can encourage collaboration because it facilitates communication in a way that doesn't require all people in a group to be in the same place at the same time. It also encourages collaboration by virtue of the fact that comments are encouraged to be left and when one comment is left, the norm of reciprocating constrcutive feedback will help to perpetuate communication between people. Eventually, the long strain of comments will help people to reach a solution to whatever problem they may be trying to solve or at least help all people in the group to understand the opinions and viewpoints of each other.
